The BaByQ

Several of my friends offered to host a shower for me, and thought it might be fun to do a laid back couples BBQ. I have always thought that a couple's shower would be awkward, but when they suggested the BBQ I knew it would be perfect. We had a great time mingling and eating, took a short break to open gifts and then enjoyed just sitting around visiting (mostly about movies that were from way before Chad and I's time!!). Once again I am overwhelmed by how blessed Chad and I are!

Week 32

Week 32

Not much new to report for week 32. Things are going very smoothly...knock on wood. I am still mix and matching maternity clothes and regular clothes. Things at school continue to take most of my energy. By the time I get home and fix dinner I am about tapped out. I no longer see the sun go down. If it weren't for getting up before 5 am I wouldn't know if the moon was still around! I am sure the dogs think we have lost our mind when we head for bed at 8:30, we use to at least fake it and stay on the couch until 9...but I have given up the facade. This weekend was mark with another big event...a second shower- the BABYQ. An event that deserves it's own post!

Here's a pic of my current baby- Kai. Afraid he and his sister are going to have some adjusting to do. We found a new toy while we were out and about. Kai has claimed and carries it around the house.

Week 31

Week 31

We are down to the single digits...9 weeks. I can hardly believe it. Things are starting to get real folks. I am looking forward to finishing up the school year so that I can tackle some of the projects that are on my to-do list. Just a couple of projects left and the nursery will be complete. Chad and I attended a baptism class this week so that we can have Baby G baptized shortly after he is born. I also received my first "mother-to-be" day gift from Big C and little G this weekend which was super sweet. No new symptoms at this point...just watching the belly expand by the day. Currently Grady is hanging out head-down, so fingers crossed that he doesn't flip in the next few weeks. 

Week 30

Week 30

 So here's week 30...10 weeks to go! I can't believe how fast things are going. Right now I am really counting down until the end of the school year more than the arrival of Baby G. Overall this week was much last the few...fatigue, heartburn and contractions are pretty much the norm. I miss being productive in the evenings and being able to bend over with ease, but I am really enjoying this new phase of movement...in the evenings I enjoy watching him roll around my belly.

I had my first shower this weekend. Chad and I are very blessed to have wonderful friends and family that are excited about the arrival of Baby G.

The Name Project

We wanted to do something a little different for the name display above the crib. I found some inspiration on Pinterest, and we decided to try to tackle it last weekend. After some measuring and math, we determined that we wanted the sign to be 6 1x4s wide. We headed to Lowe's Friday night despite the possibility of severe weather. We had just arrived at Lowe's when the Tornado sirens sounded and we were ushered to the back room with all the other customers and employees. I was thankful for a safe place to ride it out, but the stress did bring on contractions...But I decided if we went home and relaxed they would probably stop, so we passed on another hospital visit. After the warning passed we quickly got our supplies and headed home. Not my idea of a relaxing Friday night!

 Chad drilled the 1x4s together and put the base coat of orange on.

 I used my silhouette to cut out the letters in vinyl. Then we had to peel away the extra vinyl and apply the transfer paper.

 We did our best to attach the vinyl to the wood, but we didn't get a great seal. After pulling the transfer paper we covered the letters in orange to try to prevent leakage and then covered the entire thing with grey.

 After peeling the letters of there was quite a bit of touch up since the vinyl didn't adhere very well...but all is well that ends well. We are happy with the final product!

Week 29

Week 29

Week 29 went very smoothly. I continue to have some headaches and fatigue, but overall not much to complain about. Still wearing a mixture of regular clothes and maternity clothes. I believe Chad is in a "nesting" phase, although he says he is just trying to complete the task. He has been trying to knock everything off our to-do list in a weekend!! I on the other hand am swamped at work and don't have the energy/brain power to tackle to many baby related to-dos. It was like Christmas this week...in one day we received the diapers, bedding, some misc. nursery items and our first gift. Uncle Monty sent us our stroller/car seat set. As if my ever-growing belly isn't enough, Chad says things are starting to get REAL around here!
