Little Man's Digs: Nursery Reveal

So we are calling the nursery done. It was a lot of fun to pull together all the big items and the little details. From several trips to Ikea to missing crib parts to painting stripes, creating the wall art, and searching for bedding it was all an adventure that Chad and I enjoyed completing together. We are really excited with how it turned out and can't wait for the tenant to move in! Today marks one month until the due date, so I think it is a fitting day to show it off...

 Please forgive the poor lighting...

Kai is very curious about this room and is quick to check it out when the door is open. I have a feeling he will hang out in there a lot.
The closet is jammed packed with baby items that will over take the house once Grady arrives...for now it nice to have them contained.

The Name Project

The Name Project
We wanted to do something a little different for the name display above the crib. I found some inspiration on Pinterest, and we decided to try to tackle it last weekend. After some measuring and math, we determined that we wanted the sign to be 6 1x4s wide. We headed to Lowe's Friday night despite the possibility of severe weather. We had just arrived at Lowe's when the Tornado sirens sounded and we were ushered to the back room with all the other customers and employees. I was thankful for a safe place to ride it out, but the stress did bring on contractions...But I decided if we went home and relaxed they would probably stop, so we passed on another hospital visit. After the warning passed we quickly got our supplies and headed home. Not my idea of a relaxing Friday night!

Chad drilled the 1x4s together and put the base coat of orange on.
I used my silhouette to cut out the letters in vinyl. Then we had to peel away the extra vinyl and apply the transfer paper.

We did our best to attach the vinyl to the wood, but we didn't get a great seal. After pulling the transfer paper we covered the letters in orange to try to prevent leakage and then covered the entire thing with grey.
After peeling the letters of there was quite a bit of touch up since the vinyl didn't adhere very well...but all is well that ends well. We are happy with the final product!

Grady's room is almost complete...should be able to post pictures very soon!!

All the little details

Since we were throwing a budget affair, I tried to incorporate as many little details as I could, without losing sight of what "really mattered". We incorporated touches of brown and aqua as well as sand dollars throughout the day. We had two different center pieces...sand trays (which we stained) with pictures, sand dollars and candles on brown runners and aqua candle lanterns with river rocks and a picture on the aqua runners. We made runners out of an aqua and brown print for the head table, cake table and guestbook table. One of my favorite details was our guest book. We used a coffee table book that was full of beautiful beach pictures. I think it is something that we can set out for years to come...and we got lots of compliments.
I wrapped the unity candles in leftover ribbon and ended up attaching a monogram from the invites at the last minute.

Things I heart: Personalized Wedding Gift

I have to say I got one of the best wedding gifts EVER....and it wasn't on my registry! I have a soft spot for anything personalized, crafty and creative. Leave it to my Aunt Sarah to come up with the most creative cookbook. (She is an artist, so she has an advantage...)
So here it is: She took manila envelopes, cut off the closed end and "stapled" the in the middle to create a book with pockets. Then she went to town decorating it in her quirky, fun style.

Here are the pockets...complete with her fav. recipes
Each pocket is a different section w/ correlating quotes
The front of the book...total scrapbook meets collage. It ties on the side with a ribbon.

I heart this cookbook!!!
 & I heart my beautiful, true-to-herself, genuine, fun-loving, spirit-filled Aunt Sarah (Fetus)

DIY Bridal Portraits

Well the wedding and honeymoon have long pasted and it is about time I start recapping!!! For starters my bridal portraits. The budget was tight, and bridal portraits were one of those extras that got cut. Lucky for me I have a very talented best friend that agreed to shoot some pics of me. I really wanted some artsy shots so the week before the "shoot" I stripped and painted an old chair aqua blue....I love how they turned out.

I made some adjustments the day of to my hair and make-up...this look felt too formal, not "me".

Invitations and Centerpieces

With less then 100 days until the wedding it is time to get after it! Last weekend I went home and my sister, mom and friend helped me assemble the invitations. We still have to attach the ribbon/monogram, but it feels good to have a start. We also finalized the table decor- boxes w/ sand & sand dollars and pictures and a lantern w/river rocks and picture.

We still need to stain the boxes

DIY Invitation Question...

Help!! I had my invites printed/cut at kinkos this weekend. I think that they look great. The big question is what adhesive do I use to assemble them?? I have to attach an ivory cardstock square to a chocolate cardstock square....any suggestions? I have thought about using double sided tape, but I am not sure if there is a glue/glue stick that would work better. We are having an assembly party next weekend so I have got to get on it...
