Wedding Miracle

Yesterday I went to an alterations appointment for my dress....I have good news and bad news. The good news is that my dress fits perfectly, the bad news is that I am officially CRAZY!! Who drives 30 minutes to meet with an alterations lady, puts on the dress and realizes it is just fine??? ME! Every time that I put it on in the Bridal shop they placed it lower on my chest, I assumed that this was because it would not hook if they put it higher, and that I would have to have it let out. ( I am so afraid of being a bridezilla I didn't assert myself!) Next time I might error on the side of Bridezilla to avoid Crazy! Luckly I took my good friend Amie with me and we laughed all the way back...we could just imagine what the alterations lady was saying after we left!

Engagement Photos

So my fiance and I have engagement photos this weekend. I am really excited to work with our photographer, and I love pictures....but I am obsessing about our outfits. My fiance thinks I am crazy!! I picked up these cute flats from american eagle to go with a scarf that I already have. I thought that I would wear jeans, the flats, the scarf and a white T-shirt. I thought I would have my fiance where a polo that matches the color palette of the scarf. I am worried about the scarf...I think scarves are really cute, but do I want one in my engagement photos? If I take it off in some I am afraid I will look strange in plain white top.....any suggestions?

BTW...I really should be putting this much effort into studying for my midterm right now....but we have to have priorities, right?

Tuesday's Training Tip

I have decided to post a health/fitness tip once a week. I am a AFAA certified personal trainer and hold a BS Degree in Health and Human Performance, but this is in no way a substitute for a Doctor's supervision. I am not an "expert", I just would like to pass on little bits of information that I have picked up along the way.

Training Tip: Hit the Weights!

A lot times when I sit down with a female client to discuss goals they are hesitant to lift weights because they are afraid that they will "bulk" up....ladies, do not worry about this. It is very difficult for the majority of women to bulk. (due to testosterone levels). It is very important that weight training is a part of your exercise routine. Here are some reasons why:

  • Muscle is metabolically active...it continues to burn calories through out the day. According to research a pound of muscle burns approx. 6 calories a day. This doesn't seem like a lot, but it adds up.

  • Strength training helps you to shape and change the look of your body composition. Cardio just burns calories, and you do not get to choose where they come from.

  • Weight training strengthens your bones and connective tissue...helping to prevent osteoporosis.

So pick up a set of dumbbells and mix some weight training into your routine!!

A little Dress Drama

So far much of the planning has gone very smoothly....unfortunately, my dress has had a little hiccup. I ordered my dress in August and it came in a month or so ago....I love it, but I do not feel like it fits "just right". It has a sweetheart neckline and it hits me about an inch below where I would like it to. I am taking it to a seamstress to try to have it fixed this week....I am a little nervous!! I hope she says that she can fix it!!!

A Perfect Fall Day

Yesterday my fiance and some of my family at the Pumpkin Patch. I absolutely love fall, and one of my favorite things to do is go to the Pumpkin Patch. We rode trikes, jumped on the jumping pillow and picked out our very own pumpkins. We had a great day...my nieces and nephew had "too much fun". My fiance was thrilled to find the meanest pumpkin in the patch!

Things I Heart

I forgot how much I love these granola bars. I hadn't picked up a box in a while...but the Pumpkin Spice Flax is a perfect fall treat. They make a great on-the-go breakfast with a carton of yogurt, or I add a piece of fruit for a quick snack!
